Introduction
This course is a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
and First Aid combined into one program. It is designed to
teach divers the proper techniques to safely administer CPR
and evaluate and administer the correct First Aid for a given
injury. The student will be qualified at the end of this specialty
to:
1. Recognize and evaluate an emergency
situation and a victim.
2. Know how to activate or alert the EMS.
3. Be able to provide one (1) person adult CPR and administer
the proper First Aid to a nonbreathing or injured person.
It is important that the student understand
that a re-qualification course is required every two (2) years.
Student Pre-Requisites
1. Be a minimum age of eighteen (18).
2. Be a minimum age of ten (10) with parental consent.

1. Perform CPR on a manikin
a. ABC’s
b. Rule of 2’s
2. First Aid - treat a simulated injury for each of “
The Six Basics”
c. Immobilize joint
d. Bandage wounded area
e. Cool area with running water
Required Subject Areas
The following topics must be covered
during this course.
1. What is CPR1st?
2. Define Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
3. How to perform CPR
a. Asses scene and victim – EMS and statement
b. ABC’s
c. Chin lift and gentle neck extension
d. Rule of 2’s
e. Continue CPR as long as needed
4. Define First Aid.
5. When and how must First Aid be administered
a. Assess injury and victim’s condition.
b. Assess for “ The Six Basics”
I. Breathing (absent) = CPR
II. Bleeding = Pressure
III. Broken = Immobilize
IV. Burns = Cool Water
V. Bites = Cover
VI. Blows = Watch
Required Skill Performance And
Graduation Requirements
In order to complete this course, students must:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of First
Aid and CPR.
2. Recognize and evaluate an emergency situation.
3. Know how to activate or alert the EMS.
Note: The certification is good for two (2) years and must
be renewed.
